Keith and Rhian arrive

Our last lie-in for a couple of weeks. Our friends Keith and Rhian arrive today, here from Gibraltar for two weeks birding. We have all the bird spots to re-visit. Keith is on a quest to bring his life list up to 1000 – he needs 164 lifers and has two weeks to do it.

As our guests weren’t due to arrive until around 11.30am we headed off to the Spice Oven for breakfast. Mmm, 90 rupees each which included our pot of tea, stuffed parathas, curd, lime pickle and a bowl of dhal ;-p

Ready to tuck in

Ready to tuck in

Keith and Rhian duly arrived and spent some time unpacking and settling in. We had some good birds from the balcony, it reminded us of our first day here when we were racking up the lifers without even leaving the apartment.

We didn’t venture out in the heat of the day but around 4pm we all set off for the football field area in Arpora. We were immediately set upon by the local mad dog pack and a group of small children. We were offered the chance to *come and see the dancing cow* which we refused. Although ever since i’ve been wondering what we missed out on. A dancing cow, now that would have been worth 50 rupees of anyone’s money surely.

Great views of Whoosy Adswallow, pipits (still doing my head in), Rose-ringed Parakeet at the nest. Over the road to the salinas to where there were a few waders, wading. Back along the river, a few G&T’s on the balcony then out for a curry.
