Ringing a Canada Goose at the Rye Meads Ringing Group course, August 2008

Just an ordinary blog for random thoughts and diary entries about my three big passions in life – birding, bird ringing (bird banding) and photography.

Why is it called Wild Places? Purely after my love of wild and wilderness places, the natural world and my desire to be out there whenever possible!

I’ve been interested in natural history, biology, ecology and conservation all my life. I started bird ringing in 2004 in the Outer Hebrides and it has taken over my whole life and changed it beyond all recognition! Progressed in December 2008 to my A permit.

Never happier than when birding, bird ringing/banding, travelling and taking photographs! Other interests are wide and varied, and include belly dancing, the weather, ham radio and attempting to learn Welsh and Spanish

Currently based in England but planning to return to island life later in 2010
